We met by chance in a tea shop downtown. You caught my ear first. I heard someone humming that song we both love and turned to see you sitting alone in a booth. It was crowded that day and the only space left was opposite you. You smiled when I asked to share. We only talked for an hour, but it was long enough to form a bond that would last a lifetime. And then a man in a long brown coat with hair that looked like it was trying to make a break for the next county, ran up and dragged you away. He was babbling almost too fast to follow (something about mistaken identity and a sudden need to be in the horsehead nebula last year) as he hustled you out the door.

I dropped some money on the table and managed to get outside in time to see you both go tearing around a corner a few blocks up. I gave chase. I heard an odd sound and a rush of wind stirred the trash on the street. By the time I got there you were gone and all I could think was You bitch! Why didn't you take me with you!
