So I just looked at my journal and realized I haven't posted in about 3 years ... which seems weird because I could have sworn I posted something a year or so ago, but then again I don't know if anyone even see's this any more, so does it really matter?

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO??? Is there anyone still out there?

If not, that's ok, from what I understand everyone's moved over to tumblr. Based on the pics I saw while visiting the other day I can't really blame them.

*pokes at icons* man I have some cool icons. If life didn't decide to rear up and bite me in the ass every time I even began to think I have free time, I'd be all "I should start blogging again! It'll be awesome!", but as it is I'm sure something will blow up at work tomorrow and what little sleep I get tonight will be it for the next week. So instead I'll just keep it in mind as something I could do it I did have free time. which I don't. so stop looking at me like that.

I would like all my LJ friends to comment about how you got to know me. But I want you to LIE. That's right. Just make it up. If you'd like, copy this to your journal so others can do the same.

You ever sometimes feel like you blinked and missed something. Like you only closed your eyes for a minute, but in that second life passed you by and an opportunity or meeting that you were supposed to take/make was missed?

I know not many people follow this LJ, but for those of you out there watching I wanted to do a little signal boosting for my friend [livejournal.com profile] ravynfyre. For those of you who don't know Ravyn is a firefighter who also does search and rescue in her off time. The local team she volunteers with is up for a free site makeover in a contest being held from now till Aug. 20th. Illinois Search Dogs is a non-profit that is totally donation run, and a new website would be a hugh help for them. So if you have the time, click the link below and read all about the contest on Ravyn's journal and how you can vote for her group to win.

So I'm 99% done with the shawl, I'm just waiting on the delivery of the beads for the fringe. It came out just like I pictured it. I think I'll post it for sale on Etsy when I get home, unless one of you guys wants to buy it right now. Price $80 (mainly based on cost of materials)

The green scarf is also finally done, and I'll be posting it along with the shawl for sale when I get home. Price $30

Now I'm gonna get started the patterned scarf [livejournal.com profile] balinesenoneko won in the auction I participated in.

Gary Coleman died today .... this makes me very very sad.

The jokes though are fantastic.
mythologian: (Bullshit)
I'm getting really tired of teachers/people having conversations with me one semester that consist of them saying - "you talk to much, learn to shut up and don't push your opinions on other people. Everyone's complaining about you."

and then the next semester, after a group exercise during which I kept my mouth shut to keep the peace, say "Rose, you should trust yourself more! You need to make sure your opinions are heard, because they're good ideas! You need more confidence in yourself, you're not talking up enough."

Yow know what - Fuck you. Fuck all of you.

So the trinity scarf is coming along nicely, I'll try and post pictures of it later. I'm thinking I'll be done with it by the end of Apr. if I keep at it while watching my TV shows. On an interesting side note, my friend Dassie who I knitted a 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 foot baby blanket for for her son Sammy, who's my honorary nephew, tells me her cousin is interested in me knitting him an adult sized blanket. It would be a major project and I told her I'd have to work out some details before I could give her a final price, since I originally priced the blanket for Sammy at $300 total with the backing added. I'm thinking an adult sized one would be around $500, which would be really nice if someone wanted to buy one.

I'm also thinking of putting up an etsy shop when I get back to the states and putting my knitting and other jewelry up for sale at it. I love knitting, and I've been learning some cool knew stitchs to do patterns with which has been fun. The problem is there are only so many scarves you can give to people before it's too many. Not to mention most of my friends live in LA where scarves aren't really needed.

You can learn a lot about someone by the music they listen to. So here is the game! Hit shuffle on your iPod/iTunes or mp3 player and write down the first 25 songs. No cheating or skipping songs that are shameful. That is the fun!

I did both my iTunes and my iPod since I'm stuck here in my flat still and going slowly crazy with boredom and schoolwork.

Meme Time! )

This list is a bit premature since I'm still looking like a bobblehead gone wrong, but I'm definitely on the mend so I thought you'd appreciate a look at some of the crap that went through my head this past week...

Things I've learned while suffering from the Mumps )

All in all, I have learned to never doubt that a disease is catchable just because you have the vaccine, and furthermore, just because it's something nobody supposedly catches anymore.

Thank you all for the well wishes, they've been much appreciated.

My icon has never been more appropriate than in these last few days...

Who don't read my facebook account.

I have the mumps.

Which sounds ridiculous, since I (like most people) previously thought that nobody got the mumps anymore. Apparently I was wrong, since here I am in a week long quarantine in my flat with cheeks that are so puffed out I look like Dib (or a really bizarre bobblehead).

I feel like crap. It hurts like a motherfucking bitch to try and eat anything but plain yogurt which I hate the flavor of. I know I will look back on this at some point and laugh, but this year here in England has in some ways been like one giant FUCK YOU from karma.

Seriously, mumps?!? I'd joke about consumption being next but I've had a chest cough off and on since Jan and don't wish to tempt fate.

I miss LA.

(and yes I did have the MMR vaccine when I was kid, but apparently they are now discovering that it needs to be a two shot vaccine for full coverage, and I only received one shot.)

YEAH!

The 7mm circular needles arrived today so I can get back to working on the shawl now, not that I have the time for it, but it's nice knowing I can work on it if I want.
mythologian: (intelligent design)
I've gotten pretty far on the shawl, but I came to realization last week - my needles aren't long enough, in fact I should have been doing this on circular needles. Unfortunately I own no circular 7mm needles so I had to order some off of the net. Hopefully they will arrive soon and I can return to my knitting fun. I apparently also need to bite the bullet and order more of the green King Cole Magnum yarn from the intarwebs since apparently the local yarn shop has decided to stop carrying that color of the brand. I keep hoping I'm wrong about this, and I have this feeling I will order it and it will then show up on the shops shelves again, but if I want to finish it any time soon I will have to do so. grrr.

While waiting for my new needles to arrive I undid the end of the epic blue scarf and added on another foot and tassels also. I then knitted a horrible hat which I will have to by elastic for the edging of since I made the brim waaaaay to big (I have a tenancy to misjudge gauge and as a result the size of hat brims. Luckily I did it in kinda a chunky hat style so the elastic won't look bad.

I think I'm going to be taking a crafting break for awhile though while I focus on school work. I have a crap ton of shit due at the end of the month and a test on Mon.

Cut for Knitting Pics Spam )
mythologian: (intelligent design)
Since everyone's doing it I decided to jump into the art posting pool too. I'm working on two different knitting projects right now, a scarf that I can't finish till I get more of the yarn (seriously this needs to stop happening to me) and a new shawl I just started. The shawl is gonna be a simply triangle design but using the trinity stitch which I just learned and I think looks awesome.
Pictures of my progress (and other knitted shit) behind the cut )

I'm gonna have to get/make a knitting icon if I keep this up.

I just saw the most hysterically bad Jack Harkness toy at the InStore. He was cross-eyed and looked nothing like John Barrowman, and it was all I could do to not die laughing right there in the toy aisle.

>edit
I find it twice as funny that no one seems to have noticed my typo on Barrowman's name.

AGGGH!

Why do I torture myself by looking at corsets when I have no money and will never be able to afford to get all the ones I want >_<;;

I am currently in love with

this: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36928301

and this: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36810784

and OMG!! this: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35903381

On a totally different side note, I somehow managed to chip my left central incisor, I now have a tiny nick out of the middle of the bottom of it... this is very annoying.
